We have a wide selection of frames, mats, and glass that will fit any aesthetic from modern to rustic to traditional.
Framing Services
Artworks on PaperThis is our most commonly framed item. There are hundreds of ways to frame artwork on paper through matting, shadowboxing and choice of frame. Whether it's in the form of a drawing, watercolour, photograph, map, degree, certificate or book cover they all share one thing - glass. Glass is necessary to protect works on paper from moisture and light damage. The Art Exchange carries a variety of options including Regular, Conservation Quality and Non-Glare Art Glass to suit client's different needs.

Artworks on Board or CanvasWorks done on board or canvas can be handled in two ways, with a traditional frame or a floater frame.
The benefit of using a traditional frame is it covers any unfinished and/or damaged edges. We offer a large selection of traditional mouldings to choose from in a wide variety of styles. |
Floater FramesElegant and sleek in appearance, the floater frame is a great option for paintings done on canvas or board. Floater frames create a gap between the artwork and the moulding. The benefit of using a floater frame is none of the image is cut off.

Mirrors and Stained-GlassFraming mirrors or stained glass pieces is a great way to customize and personalize these objects. Framing adds additional support and hanging options. The Art Exchange can add security hangers to prevent mirrors from shifting on the wall, making them easier to clean. D-rings are used to allow your stained glass to be hung in a window.
|
Object FramingA great way to showcase a treasured item is by building a shadowbox around it. This technique creates walls inside the frame which add depth so that the object is not pushed against the glass. This helps preserve the piece and gives it a look of importance. The Art Exchange has shadowboxed a wide variety of objects... sport jerseys, a turkey feather, a collection of pins and an ancestor's engagement ring.

Textiles ArtworkCross-stitches, embroideries, silk paintings, felting and quilting pieces; we have framed it all! Textile pieces are often our most time-consuming framing projects. Felt and prefabricated textiles are subtly stitched to backing. Other techniques such as lacing and pinning are used to stretch embroideries and cross-stitches around the acid-free backing. These techniques center and straighten pieces for long-term enjoyment. Matting and framing options are limitless on these pieces. We often use double matting to echo the colour scheme.

Frequently Asked Framing Questions
What are the benefits of doing custom framing with The Art Exchange over prefabricated frames?
There are several benefits:
What is the cost of custom framing?
This is one of our most frequently asked questions by first time clients. When it comes to custom framing, the price is dependent on a variety of factors including size, materials used and labour. If you bring in your artwork for a consultation, our staff will assess, measure, and design your project to provide a quote and explain the details to you. Does The Art Exchange do repairs?
We do many repairs when it comes to custom framing. The most common are glass replacement and re-hinging artworks that have moved in the frame. Re-matting faded or non-acid free mats is also an easy switch that can renew the look of your piece and improve preservation. Repairing frames is considered on a case by case basis, depending on the amount of damage. The Art Exchange does not repair canvases or artwork on paper; we do work closely with a few conservators in London who specialize in these fields.
There are several benefits:

- We take pride in creating designs that are built to last and will protect your art and heirlooms. We use only quality materials including acid free products and wood or metal frame mouldings (no plastics).
